Avonbridge Hotel

For $115 a night, plus another $20 for breakfast, this place is expensive for what you get. Parking was difficult, the room felt old, and there was mold in the bathroom. No one helped us find our room, so we dragged our luggage around until we finally found it behind three unmarked doors, like a maze. They call themselves a 3-star hotel, but none of the rooms have air conditioning, and the website doesn’t mention that. In the middle of August we had to leave the windows open all day for air. Anyone could see straight into the room, especially while we were sleeping, which felt very uncomfortable. I wouldn’t recommend this hotel.

The rooms feel dated, and the central building gets noisy when there are celebrations or other activities downstairs. The other buildings are quiet and pleasant. The food was good, and the staff were friendly and customer-focused.

The rooms are badly worn: fixtures and fittings are dirty, chipped, and old, the curtains are stained, and the blind is broken and dirty. The furniture doesn’t match, and the beds are incredibly uncomfortable. There’s a bar behind the hotel with loud music in the evenings, and the hallways and stairwells look like something out of Trainspotting. This place is an absolute dump, like it hasn’t been decorated since the 1970s. It should be condemned. I wouldn’t recommend staying here. Avoid it at all costs.

We booked late on a Saturday and had a pleasant stay. The rooms were very clean, the staff helpful, and the price reasonable. Our room was down a long corridor that was a bit tatty and could use refurbishment, but the accommodation and staff were nice.
