It was good value, with clean, spacious rooms and a lovely big shower. We didn’t hear any noise from the pub downstairs. The room wasn’t the prettiest, but you get what you pay for, so keep your expectations realistic. Thanks for having us.

We were only staying overnight before setting off early the next morning, so the party at the pub downstairs wasn’t what we were after. It sounded fun, but the noise carried on for hours. I didn’t expect total silence in a hotel above a pub, but if you want a quiet night’s sleep, this isn’t the place. For a party weekend, though, it sounds ideal.

My partner found bugs in the bed. The mounts the mattresses sit on are left outside in all weather. Apart from that, the stay was tolerable since we only needed somewhere to sleep. On our last night, Friday, there was karaoke in the pub below until 1am. We didn’t expect complete silence, but the music was so loud the room shook. The website said nothing about karaoke, so we hadn’t brought ear protection. I’ve never experienced noise that ridiculously loud. It felt unsafe in terms of decibel levels for people in the pub, let alone those of us upstairs. I wouldn’t recommend staying here, and they haven’t replied to my emails about the stay.

The room was clean and warm, but the pub downstairs was so loud the floor vibrated until midnight. There was also noise from the main road and drunk pub customers leaving below the bedroom window. One listing calls it a 4-star hotel, but it’s nowhere near that. It’s the loudest place I’ve ever stayed. Avoid unless you’re hard of hearing.
