Holiday Inn Express Harlow by IHG

The front desk team made our stay. Aspa, Courtney Sienna and Grace gave us a warm, smooth check-in, took care of every request with a smile and went above and beyond to make sure I was comfortable. Their genuine hospitality made the experience, and I’ll absolutely return.

The location was handy, right by a variety of shops and restaurants. The bed was comfortable, a bit firm, and the pillows were very comfortable. The bathroom was clean, and the pull-out couch opened into a fairly comfortable bed, but the couch itself was filthy. There were stains on the room floor too, though I managed to wipe them away easily with a wet rag. The rag came away filthy, which left me wondering how often the floors get cleaned beyond vacuuming. Leaving stains on the floor is unacceptable. There was trash in the hallway even after I’d seen a maid’s cart. On the plus side, staff were welcoming and helpful with directions and suggestions, and quickly brought an extra blanket when we asked. Breakfast was hot, fresh and fairly tasty, though the bacon was more undercooked than I like.

The breakfast buffet was varied and good quality, with enough choice for different tastes. I found the rooms spacious, quiet and very clean, and the large beds were incredibly comfortable, so I could rest without interruption. The furniture and decor are dated, but everything is in good condition and clearly well maintained. A comfortable, peaceful hotel with good breakfast and cleanliness, though it isn’t a modern place.

The food alone would make me choose to eat here, quite apart from staying overnight. Dinner has been consistently amazing, with generous portions, great taste and elegant presentation. It feels like dining at a five-star restaurant. Breakfast is excellent too, and Maria and Rozialia keep the hot and cold items constantly supplied, clear tables quickly and keep everything clean. They’re phenomenal. The team is what makes this IHG Hotel so good, especially the management. Mihaela, the assistant manager, clearly takes care with the details: there are fresh flowers on every table and a lovely subtle scent through the common areas. The hotel feels warm and welcoming from arrival, and is spotlessly clean and beautifully presented. Though it’s officially three-star, its appearance and standards put it well into the four-star-plus category. Comparing this IHG location with similarly rated competitors would be an insult; it’s far better by every measure. The free WiFi is also strong and reliable. Housekeeping is consistent, with rooms cleaned and tidied every day. If you put a card on the door to decline daily service and “Go Green,” you receive member points, a great reward that also supports sustainability. Membership perks, including a choice of free drinks and meals, are fantastic value. The service and rewards make this place feel like a second home, and I intend to stay regularly because the staff make every visit so good.
