Charades Guest House

Even though we arrived late, we were warmly welcomed, and the items we’d requested were already waiting in our room. It was large, airy, beautifully decorated and very clean, and the bathroom was clean too. Breakfast was cooked fresh to order, with a good range of choices and plenty of tea and coffee. Our hosts were very helpful, and we’d thoroughly recommend staying here.

We came during the fair, and it was a great place to stay, just a short walk into town and to the fair if you want to go. The owner greeted us on arrival and helped with the birthday surprise for my wife. Breakfast was wonderful. All in all, it was a pleasure to stay, and we’d definitely come back if we’re in the area. Thank you both.

Great for a short stay. The guest house is very clean, with spacious rooms and all the amenities, and it’s quite close to Hereford centre. Breakfast was pretty good, much better than at a typical B&B. The only downside was the 9:00am latest breakfast time, which didn’t leave much chance for a lie-in.

We stayed for two nights, and I didn’t see the owner until breakfast on the last morning. She humiliated me in front of the other guests because I’d used the bed throw on the first day and left it on a chair. I’m disabled and get exhausted very quickly, so I needed to sleep. I had to explain that while breakfast was being served, and she wasn’t discreet at all. She kept going on about how I’d used the throw instead of the blankets in the wardrobe. I was so humiliated and distressed that I left my breakfast. Later, away from the other guests, I told her how her public reprimand had made me feel and that a more professional, hospitable approach would have been to speak to me privately. She was focused only on the throw and told me it cost more to have it laundered. She eventually apologised for humiliating me, then walked away with a big smile on her face. I wouldn’t recommend this hotel to anyone looking for a friendly, relaxing, welcoming stay. Her attitude ruined my time in Hereford, and it felt as if our money wasn’t as good as the other guests’. If she’d treated me that way after our first night, we wouldn’t have wasted our money staying a second night, that’s for sure.
