Premier Inn Hereford City Centre - Old Market

The restaurant food was okay, though the local restaurants are great. The hotel was nice and clean, as you’d expect from a typical Premier Inn, and the staff were friendly and helpful. It’s in a great location. Parking spaces are limited, so it can be difficult, though I managed to park okay.

The room was spacious and very clean, and staff were keen to help with a smile. You need your card to get into the accommodation hallways and your room. There’s a bar and restaurant at the front, looking over the start of the main walk through the shopping precinct. The city centre is a two minute walk away, and Hereford football grounds are literally next door. There are plenty of parking spaces, but parking is paid. Breakfast is all you can eat for just over £10 per person, including hot and cold drinks.

I’ve stayed regularly at Premier Inn branches for work and usually had good experiences, so this was particularly disappointing. We booked a Premier Plus room for two, but it didn’t feel like the Premier Plus standard. There was just one bath towel, and it was worn, thin and had a hole in it. All night there was loud, persistent banging. It sounded to me like the lift hitting the walls as it moved, though I don’t know what caused it. I got only around two to three hours of sleep. I also heard what seemed like air or water leaking from the air conditioner. The bathroom extractor fan didn’t work, and the air conditioning unit flashed a green error light through the night, making it hard to rest. I sent these concerns in writing to the Premier Inn head office team the morning after the stay because I have anxiety and don’t like confrontation. Their official position was that since I hadn’t reported the problems to management, they didn’t happen. Sometimes it feels like you can’t do right from wrong. If something goes wrong, apparently you have to throw down with a manager or you’re treated as a liar.

Helpful, hardworking staff, and the location is right in the centre. There are familiar coffee chains and independent cafés close by, plenty of shopping, and the stadium is next door.
