The Fox Inn

We had a really pleasant lunch yesterday. The staff were warm and friendly, and made us feel welcome. The fish and chips were delicious. It was calm and enjoyable, and I was even offered a taste of both draught ciders so I could choose which I preferred. We'll definitely be back. Thank you.

I took my in-laws to The Fox for lunch and loved the food. I had the Scotch Egg followed by the Chicken Parmigiana and cleared my plate! The small, subtle decor changes since the new management took over have been done with care for the building. It was my first visit since the takeover, and I wasn't disappointed. I'd definitely recommend it and will be back soon.

We didn't stay overnight, just booked a restaurant table for my mum's 60th, but they made her birthday amazing. Everyone was friendly and welcoming, the food was unreal, and it was great value. They also let us decorate the area. Highly recommend. We'll be back for one of your event nights. Thank you xxx

We only visited the restaurant, and Google doesn't give me an option to review its dishes and service separately. The food was presented well and the menu sounded interesting, with a nice range of choices. The chicken pate and baked caramel starters were good. My friends' ribs and burger looked good too, but my seabream was awful. It tasted stale, like fish with a yellow sticker from Tesco that's near the point of going off. The side mix, maybe peas, bacon, and mussels, was tasteless. My partner's steak and ale pie was terrible too. The pastry was rock hard, and the filling was runny, boring, and tasteless. For dessert I got The fox Pavlova. The meringue was hard and old, there was lots of compotte, and no cream. They offered clotted cream instead of whipped cream, but I didn't notice it while tasting. Our bill for four was £170. We won't be returning. There are plenty of other places to spend our money.
