White Hart Hotel & Apartments

The room was very clean, but there seemed to be water damage and peeling paint on the ceiling. The radiator wouldn't switch off, only down, so the room got hot and stuffy on some of the warmer days. Those were small issues and didn't spoil our five night holiday at the White Hart Hotel in Yorkshire. The service was excellent, and the Manager at the front desk was extremely courteous and went out of his way to help with our requests. I'd certainly stay at the White Hart or one of their other Hotels again.

We had a large, comfortable room with a lovely bathroom and shower. The staff were attentive and friendly. Some guests got noisy, but the night receptionist spoke to them and things calmed down after 1am. After a long day travelling, we stopped at Dat badger pub for a drink. Very friendly again, with a great atmosphere and reasonable prices, and we enjoyed relaxing there for an hour.

We used a hotel gift voucher for a cosy double, but room 302 needs a refurb and didn't feel worth the price, even allowing for it being the smallest room. The bathroom shelf was coming off, the old fashioned shower swung between scalding and freezing, and the sink drained very slowly. Reception wasn't friendly and didn't ask how our stay had been. Breakfast was alright, nothing special, and £15 for parking is very expensive. I wouldn't stay again.

We ate at the Fat Badger bar on the first night, having belly pork and sea bass. Both dishes looked lovely and tasted just as good. Our cosy double was small but easily big enough for two nights, with a nice big bed and a bath with shower. The bedroom and bathroom were both rather dark, though, and there wasn't a good light for putting on makeup. Breakfast was a little cool at around 7.30 on the first morning and 8.00 on the second, so perhaps the hot plates could be turned up. All in all, a lovely stay, and we'll definitely return.
