Harrogate Suites

We had breakfast and evening meals at The Harrogate Inn, and both were good quality. It's only a short walk from the shops and places to eat in Harrogate. The building is old and can cater for less mobile guests, although the lift is currently out of order. The staff were very busy but extremely polite and did their best to make our stay a good one. A special mention for housekeeping: the rooms, corridors, and main reception areas were spotless.

The hotel has a nice atmosphere, and our room was clean and warm. We were here for the Knit and Stitch show, just across the road at the exhibition centre, and the town is close too. We booked a 'cosy' room and it was quite small, so next time we'd probably get a bigger one. At least the bathroom has a proper door! The staff were friendly, though some seemed like they could use more training. The reception desk being inside the pub was a bit odd, since you have to take your luggage through it. The room windows had a lot of condensation. There's a newer window behind the old one, but one panel was missing. We got food on the first night, and the pizza and cocktails were lovely. The hotel allows dogs, and you can add a late checkout for £25. The fire alarm went off at 4:45am while we were there, and we had to evacuate to the car park. I think the staff did their best, but we were left standing in the rain for 45mins wondering what was happening, with no staff member there. These things happen, but they might want to review their fire alarm procedures.

The welcome from the staff felt personal, and both check-in and check-out were easy. The room was roomy, the bed cosy, and the inn was really comfortable. They made a fuss of my dog too, which I appreciated. Everything was spotless. I had a brilliant stay and would love to return.

We walked into Harrogate for the bars and restaurants, so the location worked really well. Parking was handy too, and we could leave the car there day and night if needed. The staff were consistently friendly and helpful. Breakfast had a good buffet selection, and the hot food was hot. We also tried the sandwiches as a bar snack on our first day, and they were tasty. Our standard room was very clean and had everything we needed, though the bathroom radiator didn't work. We did get fresh towels each day. I'd highly recommend the hotel.
