Sea View Guest House

Jane was a wonderful host, welcoming, approachable and clearly on top of keeping the accommodation lovely, relaxing and extremely clean. I’d give more stars for the service if I could. I booked Sea View Guest House for four nights of work because I wanted somewhere near the odeon, and it had the best reviews in my price range. Jane was flexible when I wanted to upgrade from a single room and changed my room. Every room I used was clean and tidy, functional, and the property has lovely details, including arched windows and ceiling detailing in the reception room. I was coming and going very early or late, so I didn’t see other guests and barely heard any activity outside. I liked having a small dining area and cereal for breakfast. It was nice seeing the owner around the house, keeping things running. The rooms I stayed in had no kettle, lamps or anything beyond a bed, wardrobe or storage, and tables, but that was fine for what I needed. Thanks for a wonderful stay.

The sea views and handy location make this a great place to stay, and the price is good too. It's clean, and the lady who runs it is really friendly and welcoming. I've been three times, twice on my own and once with my three-year-old daughter. I'll stay here whenever I'm back in the area.

The price for two nights was excellent, and the building and room were both very clean and tidy. We stayed at this lovely B&B for two nights in August 2021, my first visit to Hartlepool. We were greeted warmly and everyone was polite and friendly. I'd happily recommend it and was planning to return in October 2021. Five stars.

The breakfast issue was the biggest letdown. My friends were told there was no breakfast, despite the listing saying in two places that it was included or free. They had to find somewhere else and pay extra, so the stay wasn't as good value as it first seemed. For a place listed as a B&B, it was really just a room for rent. I'd suggested it to friends visiting for the weekend because the price seemed reasonable, though at the high end of reasonable. They also arrived shortly after the 3pm check-in time and found nobody there. When they phoned, they were told to come back in about half an hour. That's a silly time to leave check-in unmanned. As Hartlepulians, we were disappointed and won't recommend it to visitors again when it doesn't provide what it advertises.
