Fryatt Hotel & Bar

I was here on a work trip to visit the port and would definitely come back. The room was huge, with a comfortable bed and a decent TV that had Netflix, Amazon and more. The secure car park has a large gate and keypad, and the location is great. For the price, it's a bargain. Chris the Manager was really helpful and changed my booking from one day to another, though I'd be cautious about assuming that's possible during a busy summer.

We'd stayed here in 2023, when it was the Captain Fryatt, and it was disgusting then. The difference after the improvements is huge, and the owners must have spent a fortune. There's a 50 inch TV in every room, and ours were nicely decorated with Dolce Gusto coffee machines. We were first booked into cottage number 2, but when we asked why the TVs didn't work, we learned the WiFi was down there. Violet kindly offered another room, and we chose numbers 15 and 16, outside the main building with their own street entrance. It felt like an upgrade. A couple of small things: in room 15, shower water from the bath screen runs onto the floor, and a mirror in the room would help with using the hairdryer. We'd happily stay again.

We had a very good stay, with a friendly lady on hand to answer our questions. The room felt luxurious and had a shower, a big TV, a Dolce Gusto coffee machine, and WiFi. Netflix worked on the TV for about half an hour before the modem lost connection, and the WiFi went down too.

For us, Tulip Hotel was a lovely stop before heading on to London the day after arriving in the UK. We had a peaceful, restful night and thought it was excellent value. It's in Harwich town, close to the International Port, which suited us as we came by ferry from Hook of Holland. The building is old-fashioned and full of character, while the rooms have been nicely updated. Ours was clean and comfortable, with a new TV, a handy kitchen area and fridge, and a really spacious bathroom. We had a great overnight stay.
