The breakfast choices have been a real highlight, from cereal, fruit, pastries and porridge to a full English, with options for different diets and preferences. We also have one of the larger rooms, looking out to the back, and the superking bed is wonderfully comfortable. Sleep comes easily here. We picked this as our base for exploring East Sussex on a two week holiday because it sits centrally for the area. So far, the stay has been exemplary. The building has a rich history, including its more recent time as a Youth Hostel, and it has been converted into a very opulent boutique hotel. The decor suits the property's age and style. I believe there are 10 rooms in different sizes and positions. The staff we've met are lovely, especially Beth, who seems happy to help with anything. There are only a few staff at times, so a problem can take a while to sort out, but it does get resolved, even early morning spider-wrangling. After our full two weeks, I still stand by every word of this review. The holiday went by far too quickly. Chad, Beth & Beth are warm and generous, always there if we needed anything, and nothing seemed too much trouble. We had an amazing time and will certainly come back as soon as we can. Whether you're here to explore or just stopping by, check it out. We haven't regretted it for a second.

The communal lounge and African bar were a lovely surprise, though I didn't get a proper chance to use them, so I may have to come back. My room was lovely, with a shower bigger than I expected and fresh, crisp bedlinen. Staff were attentive, and it was quiet and peaceful at night. There was plenty of parking, plus a safe spot to store my bicycle. What's not to like?

The hosts made us feel very welcome, and breakfast was superb. We loved the enormous hotel lounge, beautifully decorated and furnished, where you could relax with a drink or coffee. My wife and I had a lovely two night stay. Our room was spacious, comfortable and nicely decorated. The only small downside was the en-suite shower and toilet: instead of a proper door, it had a sliding partition with big gaps, which could make privacy an issue. Apart from that, everything was perfect. We'd definitely stay again.

The African bar is beautiful, and we would absolutely come back. The hotel sits in a stunning location, and the rooms are spacious, modern and well thought out, even down to the plug sockets. Check-in and service felt personal, and the hosts were really pleasant. There were a couple of small maintenance issues with the shower and opening window, but the host was understanding and open to fixing them.

I was here on a work trip and, as a solo woman, felt safe at the hotel. The staff were really friendly. My room was clean and had what I needed, though it felt dated, and the property's photos aren't an accurate reflection. I didn't have a car and there was nothing nearby, so I had to eat both dinner and breakfast at the hotel. I appreciated having meals available, but, as others have said, the quality seemed questionable for the price. Breakfast was £10 for cereal, cheap toast and coffee, though I didn't have time to try the cooked options. Dinner was £25 for a microwave curry and sticky toffee pudding, which seemed steep.
