The owner was lovely, the rooms were clean, and the pillow was the most comfortable I've ever had in any hotel. The bistro was being refurbished while I was there, but they delivered a packed lunch to my room, which worked better for me because of work. I'd highly recommend this place and will definitely book again if I'm in the area.

The river view from the balcony was lovely, and breakfast was good with friendly staff. The location worked well, but the place as a whole feels ready for a revamp. Our room had a wet room with handrails. For what we paid, it didn’t feel like good value.

We found Sonia's Bistro in the bridge house while looking for somewhere to eat with the family. The prices were very affordable, and there’s a choice of British dishes like steak pie and fish and chips alongside the Italian food. I especially liked the Spaghetti Roma, with salami, ham and spinach in a fresh cream sauce. It’s a small, charming restaurant with lovely views over the river.

The room was immaculate, with a comfortable bed and a small en-suite that had everything we needed. We also enjoyed the reasonably priced bistro food, and the staff were friendly and helpful. The problem was the price shown by booking. com, which misled us. We had more to pay when we arrived. Check with the proprietors what’s included before checking in, to avoid an embarrassing and upsetting surprise.
