We never stayed overnight, but after eating and having drinks here, we’d consider staying at The Old Black Lion in future. The staff were friendly and gave us wonderful hospitality, and we’ll definitely return. On Friday evening we enjoyed a nice bottle of wine and another drink while listening to the jazz group. The next afternoon we came back for a few more drinks. We also had burgers with scampi on the side. Everything arrived hot in generous portions, and the burger was tasty and excellent quality. Service was friendly and efficient. Definitely recommend 😊

We brought our large German shepherd along, and the layout worked really well for having a dog. We didn’t feel pushed away into a corner, and the staff were patient while he settled into the surroundings. The Sunday lunch was absolutely delicious, and the price felt very reasonable. It was much busier than I expected, and I was especially impressed by the wine list.

You really need to book ahead for Sunday roast, and it’s easy to see why. The presentation was spot on, the meat cooked perfectly, and the portion was hearty. One of the best roast lunches I’ve had. The staff were polite, attentive and always nearby. Five stars, well deserved.

Many of our family and friends stayed at The Old Black Lion for the weekend, and they were delighted with their rooms and the hospitality. We’d stayed here several times before, so we knew it would be a great base for celebrating our wedding at The Globe. It really was. The night before the wedding, we had a family dinner here. Everyone talked about how delicious the food was, and the staff were warm, friendly and attentive. James made everything run smoothly and was happy to help with anything. James and the whole team made the weekend special. The people, atmosphere and food were outstanding, and we can’t recommend The Old Black Lion enough.

Finally made it here for a birthday Sunday lunch after hearing so much about it. The food was lovely, and the service was great from beginning to end. I’d definitely recommend it, and we’ll be back x
