Liverpool’s a fantastic city, and the Ibis by Albert Dock was a comfortable, affordable base for exploring it. We stayed three nights with four friends, and the location made it easy to get around. My room was spotless, with a lovely view over Albert Dock, a comfortable bed and pillows, and a great shower. Breakfast was good too, especially the coffee, yoghurt and sausages. The staff were helpful and professional, and the hotel had a relaxed feel. The one problem was a loud gurgling water noise, possibly an airlock, that got especially annoying at times. When we mentioned it, a staff member immediately offered us another room, but we were happy with everything else and stayed put. Luckily, I had earplugs! Thanks to everyone at the Ibis. We really enjoyed our stay.

My stay in Liverpool was pleasant apart from one encounter on the morning we left, which left a poor final impression. My friend and I were picking up breakfast when a red-haired staff member pushed past both of us to reach the hot food, then served herself without a greeting or any courtesy. She seemed unfriendly throughout and gave guests nearby dismissive looks. At this price, I expect basic politeness from hotel staff. I’d urge management to address the customer service standard with the team. After this experience, I’d hesitate to recommend the hotel to people visiting Liverpool. Guests should feel welcome and respected.

We arrived on 4 December and had planned to stay a second night on the 5th. The location was great, and almost everything else worked well: the room was lovely and clean, the shower was good, the staff were friendly, breakfast was great, and the EV charging and parking were useful. We visit Liverpool often, five times this year, and thought we’d found our regular hotel. But the bed was so hard that we barely slept and woke up aching and stiff. The pillows felt like rocks too. We couldn’t face another sleepless night, so we left early on the 5th and gave up the money we’d paid for that night. It’s a shame, because everything else was perfect, but the mattress and pillows let the place down badly. I’ve seen other reviews mention them as well. We’d love to return, but not until the beds and pillows are updated. We didn’t mention it when leaving because the staff were busy with other guests. I hope the hotel looks into it so future guests can sleep comfortably and feel happy booking again.

The location was great, the beds were comfy and the hotel was lovely. A big thank you to the kind staff, especially Sandra G, who went out of her way to safely return an item I’d accidentally left in my room. I’m really grateful and will definitely stay here again.

I have limited mobility, and the accessible bathroom here is one of the best I’ve stayed in. I’ve been in higher-star hotels, but this one was just as good or better, and clearly well thought out. The rooms were very clean, and there was no loud door banging at night. What keeps bringing me back to ibis Liverpool Central Docks is the care from the staff. Lisa and Simon from management were welcoming and hands-on, and I saw Simon step in to help himself. Everyone, from reception and bar staff to the back-of-house team, was friendly. When my son went out, I stayed in the bar area and felt safe despite my limited mobility. The staff brought tea or water over whenever I asked, which I really appreciated. Breakfast is excellent, with a wide selection from cheese to a full cooked breakfast. It’s kept hot and fresh, and I like that it runs until noon on Saturdays and Sundays for anyone wanting a lie-in. There are EV charging points and plenty of parking, and the hotel is opposite Albert Docks. The evening menu is extensive, and the bar stays open late. It’s a 10 out of 10 for me. We travel a lot around the UK and usually stay in branded hotels, and this place is right up there with them, if not better. We’ve stayed before and will be back. Thanks for making us feel so welcome.
