We came away feeling rested after a really lovely, peaceful weekend. Our ground-floor suite was gorgeous, with double patio doors opening onto our own patio and garden. The car was parked right outside, which was so handy. The hotel faces Haytor Rock on Dartmoor, set in beautiful, very quiet grounds. It was fog friendly, too. Can't wait to return. Highly recommended 👌

There's miles and miles of moorland walks starting right from the hotel, so it's a great spot if you love walking. We had a lovely three-night stay, and our dog had the best time. The hotel is dog friendly, with a dog wash and boot room we used every day, dog towels, and wellies for people if needed. Our food was good, and the pie was delicious 🥧😋. The staff were friendly and helpful, especially Sharna at reception and handyman Ian, who fixed our TV and light socket. We really appreciated the upgrade to a spacious, comfortable deluxe room. We'll all be back.

The rooms were spotlessly clean, and the hotel is in a great location. There was a good choice of food, all nicely cooked. Staff were friendly and ready to help with anything, always with a smile. The whole place felt well run and had a great atmosphere. We'd definitely recommend it and plan to return.

I spent three nights at the Moorland Hotel in January and was sorry to leave. The location is stunning: step through the gate and you're surrounded by natural beauty, with wild ponies grazing across the road. I hear it gets busy in summer, though early January was quiet. Agatha Christie wrote her first book here, and I can see how The Moorland could inspire creativity. On wet days I worked downstairs, with excellent food and great coffee. The cosy bar, restaurant, and sitting room full of sofas were a real pleasure. The staff were kind and capable throughout. Even with icy weather sweeping the moor, the hotel stayed warm, calm, comfortable, and well run. My classic double wasn't large, but it was pleasant and had everything I needed. It was spotless and nicely presented, with a super-comfortable bed. The fridge and coffee maker were a nice bonus. What a find. I hope to return one day.

We had a fantastic birthday overnight stay and would happily come again. Our dog was welcome too, and several staff gave her treats. At breakfast, our waitress even brought her a little pot of sausages. The breakfast was lovely, and the three-course dinner the night before was fantastic. The staff were warm, efficient, and accommodating. The location is wonderful, just across the road from Haytor.
