I’d recommend this hotel to anyone staying in Helston, or even just stopping in for a drink. I arrived after a five hour work journey, the day before Flora day, without realizing how difficult it would be to find a room at such short notice. I came into this lovely pub thinking my luck had run out. The family run place took me in for the night. The staff were incredibly kind and welcoming, helped me look into nearby hotels, and then put me up in a room and helped with anything I needed. I was truly touched by their kindness.

The girl at reception was very nice and sorted out our refund, but we were still disappointed. The pictures on the website looked fab, though I think they’re from when the hotel first opened and should be changed. The room we got didn’t look like them at all. Everything inside was very old and filthy. We were there for two minutes and the smell was awful. The carpet had lots of stains, there were scratches on the wall by the windows, and the doors and floors creaked. The room stank. Disgusting place, I don’t recommend this hotel.

Would I stay again? Nope, not even for £40 a night. The building needs serious money spent to bring it up to spec. The woman who checked us in was very helpful and welcoming, which we appreciated. The room was clean, but otherwise pretty diabolical. I understand the building is old, but the problems went beyond that. It needed a complete redecoration, parts of the walls were damp, the bathroom tiling wasn’t finished, and the overall finish was very cheap. The Native Indian pictures on the walls seemed very odd too.

I only stopped in for a coffee, so I can’t comment on the rooms. The lounge and bar were welcoming and well furnished, with some original (?) artwork on the walls. There’s interesting history to the place too, and details are readily available. Well worth calling in.

My dad and I aren’t having the best time at the angel inn in helston Cornwall. When we arrived before closing time, we couldn’t get in at first, though we were eventually able to get access. The room is nice, but there’s not much to do in it because the TV doesn’t work and we can’t get a WiFi signal. We asked for help with the TV, but they couldn’t fix it, and the man helping us said he’d have to call someone in. We were told we’d get breakfast, then found out on arrival that it wouldn’t be happening. We had to travel somewhere else to eat. I’m not really sure the place was worth what we paid.
