For my Mum’s 60th birthday, we had afternoon tea here with about 25 guests. The sandwiches, cakes, tea and coffee were delicious, and the service was faultless. They also handled dietary needs, including vegetarian food for me and gluten-free options for two of my mum’s friends. Everything went to plan and they made it a wonderful day for my mum. Cam, who I believe looks after events, was especially helpful and accommodating, making sure it was all just right. Everyone had a lovely time. Thank you to all involved, we’d gladly recommend you.

The staff are lovely and helpful, and breakfast is fine, with a large continental buffet and cooked options. The hotel itself is lovely, but it badly needs repairs and decorating. There were broken windows, peeling paint and shabby furniture. We would have checked out if we hadn’t been here on business.

The hotel is tatty and a bit rough around the edges, but at this price you don’t expect five-star treatment. The room and bed were clean, everything was reasonable, and the night porters are very sweet characters.
