Hidden cottages

Julian was quick to send the booking details and answered our questions promptly when we arrived. The barn itself has been renovated to a high standard, with two good-sized en-suite bedrooms and a large kitchen and living room. It’s in a very quiet corner of Warwickshire, but just a short drive from Henley-in-Arden High Street for groceries. We’d definitely stay again when we’re in the area.

There are lots of historic sites, interesting places to visit, good walks and local pubs nearby. The cottage booklet has details of them all. The cottages are comfortable and well equipped, set in beautiful, peaceful grounds. I stay at hidden cottages two or three times a year and always have a lovely time. The owners go above and beyond.

We spent a lovely stay at Hidden Cottages in Warwickshire. The barn was spotless, thoughtfully laid out and spacious enough to relax in. The owners made everything easy, and there were tea, coffee, biscuits and cereal waiting for us. I cooked there using the oven, hob, microwave and all the utensils we needed, though there are good pubs for meals too. We’d recommend the pub in Tanworth in Arden or the newly opened Italian in Henley in Arden. The town has good shops, and the living room has excellent information about those and other local options. The countryside around the barn is wonderfully peaceful, with walks to explore. Julian even let us know when a steam-train excursion would pass. It was hard to believe Birmingham, Warwick and Stratford on Avon were so close for a cultural outing. This is a very special bolthole and we hope to come back.

The hosts are warm and welcoming, and the setting is wonderfully secluded. The three barn conversions and cottage are finished to a high standard, making a great base for exploring the Warwickshire countryside. For self-catering, this place is as good as it gets. We couldn’t have asked for a better stay and would highly recommend it to anyone wanting a break from town or city life. Five stars all round.
