Poplars Farm

Our room was spotless, warm and well equipped, with a really comfortable double bed. The hosts were welcoming and friendly, and since we’re older and not very tech savvy, it was handy being able to reach them by phone. We only stayed one night and wished it could have been longer. We enjoyed it so much and hope to come back when we’re in the area.

The beds were comfy, the pillows soft, the shower hot, and the room was clean. But breakfast was confirmed for 8:30, and when we went down, nothing was set up and nobody was around. Eventually we found someone who hadn’t been told we were booked for breakfast. She apologised and offered to make it in half an hour, though we had a long journey ahead. We also discovered they’d already taken payment, despite our booking saying we’d pay on arrival by debit card. Mistakes happen, but this felt like a significant failure, and all we got was an apology that they’d forgotten. Room 1 gets a lot of traffic noise, and the door handles are all coming loose and need replacing.

We had an ensuite room for the weekend with a comfortable bed and tea and coffee making facilities. It was very clean, and there’s a private car park. A lovely B&B with friendly, welcoming hosts, and they serve breakfast too.

They made booking feel easy from the first phone call, and the owners gave us a warm welcome when we arrived. There was a decent sized car park, and they were helpful with suggestions about where to eat nearby. I needed a room at short notice and was lucky one was available. It was clean, fresh and perfectly suitable, with a peaceful night’s sleep and an easy checkout.
