The logs on the fire in the morning were such a lovely touch, and breakfast was far more than we expected, with freshly cut fruit, yoghurt, cereal and eggs from the hosts’ own chickens. The rooms were spotless and really comfortable, and ours even had a big slipper bath. Every room looked out onto stunning views. Our friends booked us into Ebberley Escapes for their wedding. Maggie and Kevin made us feel so welcome that we arrived as guests and left feeling like friends. Thank you both for a wonderful stay. We can’t wait to come back early next year, and I’m hoping to buy Maggie’s latest book then.

The hot tub was a lovely place to sit and watch the birds, especially all the finches. It’s a very rural spot, and the property has loads of thoughtful little extras that make a stay feel special. Maggie and Kevin were friendly and helpful, and the place had everything we could want. One of the best places we’ve stayed. I’d thoroughly recommend it.

We had a really relaxing week in November. The hot tub was excellent, and the owners supplied robes. There was local jam, cream and scones waiting when we arrived, a really nice touch. The place is dog friendly and thoughtfully equipped, and the facilities were excellent and well maintained. It’s in a quieter part of Devon, though local amenities are easy to reach and the pub is about a mile and a half away on foot. The owner lives next door and was available to help throughout the week. Both owners, a husband and wife team, came round when we left. They were lovely to meet and clearly care deeply about their business. They’ve retired to the countryside to run it and are “living the dream.” They plan to retire again in a few years, so book your holidays now! Highly recommended, lovely people and a lovely place to stay.

Mine felt more like a suite than ordinary accommodation, and the breakfast was very good. The hosts were friendly too. Although the setting is quiet and rural, nearby towns and RHS Rosemoor are easy to get to. There’s also excellent beer at a CAMRA rated pub in the next village.

Wrens Thatch cottage was peaceful, spacious and really comfortable. We had a wonderful week there and couldn’t fault it. Devon’s beaches and holiday resorts aren’t far away, and Molly, our dog, loved the place too. Highly recommended.
