The location made this a handy budget option for a short stay, with shops, transport and the town centre close by. Check-in was quick, and the room was basic but comfortable. I did find the hotel noisy, given the busy roads and nightlife nearby, and the Wi-Fi and some room amenities could be better. Room maintenance also needs attention, and less noise would make the stay much better.

Staff were welcoming and helpful, and it was alright overall. Shops and places to eat were nearby. Room 504 was very hot when I arrived, and the bathroom had a few issues: the light didn’t work, the soap dispenser wouldn’t dispense, and the outside handle on the shower room door was barely attached, with screws showing. The USB socket by the bed was loose and wouldn’t charge.

There’s nowhere for taxis to drop you off, so you have to walk, and the area was dirty. I’d prepaid for breakfast and dinner, but found the menu was high in carbs and capped at £14.50. Honestly, this was the worst travel experience of my life. Zero overall.

The main reason I’m giving it four stars is what happened at 3am. A staff-only door right beside my room kept opening and closing every five minutes for half an hour. I couldn’t see anyone through the peephole, but the motion lights were on, so someone was out there. The doors don’t close quietly, and that was frustrating at that hour. I’d read reviews about road noise, but it didn’t bother me. The windows do need upgrading, though: even shut, they let air in and the room was quite cold overnight. I only saw one staff member during my stay, a friendly girl with highlights in her hair whose name I didn’t catch. It’s a nice enough place for one night.

The bed was comfortable, and there’s a bar and food. Shops are all within easy walking distance, right on the doorstep. Parking is at Eden center, where there’s also a Greg's if you want a budget breakfast, plus a tesco and plenty of other shops.
