The old gypsy wagon had some charm, and the bed was comfortable. WiFi worked well too, and it did feel like a break close to nature. But the place was dusty, full of cobwebs, and the toilets were filthy, with dried excrement on them. The owner's dog also defecated right in the middle of our seating area. The booking photos didn't reflect the sad, tired, dirty place we found, and £120 a night felt like incredibly poor value. My partner had booked it as a surprise, and since we'd paid in advance, we tried to make the best of it as the only guests there. The price included a full English breakfast, but after having toast, orange juice, and coffee, I was glad we didn't get to try it. Local pubs were closed on two of the three nights, and one closed early because of staff shortages when we tried to book a table. It feels like there may be a backstory with the owner. Other review sites mentioned confrontations over partial refunds, so we didn't ask. It wasn't hideous, but I'm practical and pragmatic, and this just wasn't worth the price. Don't trust the website photo, it must be years old.

Jane's vegan butter was amazing, and the whole family loved John Paul's food, whether vegetarian, vegan, or meat. We had all three caravans, and even with the wet weather in October, it turned into a terrific long weekend we'll remember. There was time for toasted marshmallows around a bonfire, and we really enjoyed the hot showers and the communal vinery room. It was the high point of our family's year!

We loved sitting outside with a campfire, drinking wine chilled in the fridge and watching the stars appear. The caravan felt authentic, and the pretty site was laid out to give everyone privacy. Jane and John Paul were so friendly and welcoming, and the vegetarian and free-range meat options at breakfast and dinner were truly exceptional. Such a relaxing, enjoyable break for incurable romantics.

The rain was lovely to listen to as we settled into a very comfy bed. We were treated like royalty, with the owners bending over backwards to make sure we had a nice time, and breakfast in the morning was perfect. A really lovely place to visit. I’ll probably book another weekend here in the summer.

We thoroughly enjoyed our visit. The owners were brilliant about dietary needs, and breakfast was amazing. The site has all the facilities you need, with beautiful old gypsy caravans, including a showman's van. It has a small living area and a bunk bed for the little ones underneath mum and dad.
