The weekly guide in the room was really useful for planning around cruise ship arrivals, and we managed to visit the historic sites and shop at quieter times. John also knows a lot about local history and shared tips beyond the obvious big attractions. Our room looked out over the water and gardens, the furnishings were elegant, and breakfast was delicious. We were absolutely thrilled with our stay. Highly recommend!

The views from our first-floor suite were a joy to wake up to, and our host made us feel so welcome. Nothing was too much trouble. The suite was bigger than my house, pure indulgence and so worth it. It was a lovely character-filled home, and after two nights I was sad to leave. A great base for travelling around the island.

John was such a perfect host, and breakfast was wonderful. The room was fantastic, spotless, and extremely comfortable. It's a fascinating old house too, and I can't rate Graemeshall highly enough.

The location is very peaceful, with spectacular scenery just outside. Since most major towns are a 10-15 minute drive away, you'll probably want to rent a car or arrange cabs ahead of time, as we did. We stayed four nights in the spacious Laird's Suite, a comfortable four-room suite with water views. John was extremely kind and made us feel welcome. The bed and breakfast is in a beautiful historic home that's been lovingly restored. We loved our stay and would happily return on our next visit to Orkney.
