Indy was warm, professional and really helpful, and made our visit lovely. I do find it odd that table service isn’t automatically offered anymore, so bear that in mind if you’re after a sit-down meal. Our mains looked good and tasted nice, though they weren’t very hot. Drinks took a little while to arrive. The Knickerbocker Glory was the letdown. The menu mentioned fruit compote and cherries, but ours seemed to have two small scoops of vanilla ice cream, lots of cream and frozen berries. We were disappointed. We told the staff that evening, and they dealt with it well.

Amber and Tate gave excellent service, and the cocktails were lovely. I do miss the personal touch and chance to chat with staff since the move to self-service. The food was okay, with a few things that could be improved, which we mentioned at the time. We couldn’t have asked for a better response. Thanks, as always, for the hospitality. You’re a credit to the restaurant. We didn’t stay at the hotel, but had to select an option to post.

Not much seems to have changed since my last visit 12 months ago, apart from the decor. I wouldn’t recommend spending your money here if you’re not local, as there are much better places around. I visited at 15:50 on a Monday. There were used glasses on the bar and on three empty tables, with 12 customers seated at four tables. I waited two minutes to order at the bar. One staff member was behind it with their back to me and didn’t acknowledge me; another arrived just under two minutes later. I ordered a house lager, Compo's Lager. It was bright and crisp, served in a clean glass. The drink itself gets 2/5.

The Old Bridge Inn was ideal for our gig at the Picturedrome, right next door. It looked spectacular after the recent refurbishment, and our clean, comfortable room meant we slept really well. Staff were friendly and helpful throughout. They even sent on my husband’s Kindle after he left it behind, which we’re very grateful for. We’d happily stay again.

We booked two rooms for one night on 28 December 2025, with breakfasts for me, my friend and his daughter. We’d arranged it about six months ahead because we were taking her to see Bad Manners next door as a present. The band cancelled early on 27 December because a member had fallen ill, so I immediately emailed the hotel and booking.com to cancel. I know it was short notice, but neither replied until the 28th, when both said the full amount was due under the no-cancellation policy. I wrote again to explain that we wouldn’t be staying or eating the breakfasts we’d paid for, and the rooms wouldn’t need cleaning or fresh bedding because nobody would use them. Late that day, the hotel simply said it was keeping the full payment. I didn’t expect a complete refund, but I feel cheated that there wasn’t even a partial one for the unused rooms and meals. It wasn’t a cheap booking, and the gig cancellation wasn’t our fault. This is very poor service. I wouldn’t recommend this hotel or any of The Coaching Inn Groups hotels. Maybe you’ll reply to this post faster than you did to my emails.
