The rooms were clean and comfortable, though the shower head holder was cracked. Breakfast was okay, but they forgot my wife’s drink. I’d have liked to be offered another drink and some extra toast. The pub’s in a nice spot, a little way out of the centre.

The pub itself is lovely, in a beautiful spot, and the staff are friendly, though there didn’t seem to be enough of them. I wasn’t impressed with the food and felt ripped off by my lamb rump with vegetables. The green beans were fine, but the potato slices were thin and tasteless, and I’m convinced they were frozen. The jus was watery and bland, while the lamb was okay. Someone else in our party had suet pudding with mashed potatoes, and the pudding was very tasty. A few of the other dishes also looked frozen and reheated, which isn’t good at these prices.

A very relaxed bar, with helpful staff behind the counter. The food was excellent value too, which is getting harder to find these days.

Good wine and a good open mic night. Looking forward to seeing Harry Sanderson on Sunday.

We had dinner for four and all picked things from the Yorkshire Tapas menu. Five items for £20, and it was all well cooked. We were stuffed with hardly anything left. It was nice enough weather to sit outside with the dog, and the landlord was lovely. The people who had beer liked the choices too. Can’t recommend this place enough, and we’ll definitely be back.
