We came through Storm Dave smiling. Our pitch was generous in size, though getting out meant a bit of back-and-forth manoeuvring. It was manageable, just something to keep in mind. The site was immaculate, and the facilities stayed spotless throughout our visit, genuinely military-standard clean. Staff were helpful and accommodating. They came out to meet us on arrival instead of us going to reception. There’s a dog-friendly pub nearby, separate from the site, with decent food, but book ahead as tables fill quickly. There’s lots to explore on foot in the surrounding area. The onsite WiFi was okay, but our Ryoko device worked better. TV reception wasn’t great, so streaming over WiFi was best in the evenings. Remember 50p coins for the showers, which run for about 10 minutes per coin. Clean, well kept, and in a brilliant spot. We’d definitely return.

The pub next door was a nice place to get a drink on a cold evening. We were also a 20-minute drive from the car park at the base of Scafell Pike, near the coast, and only five minutes from the saw mill cafe & farm shop, where we had a great breakfast. A good base for the area. We spent two November nights in our van and got a friendly welcome and a lovely pitch tucked among the trees by the river, at the end of the site. Facilities were clean, with warm water and hot showers. You need 50p for a shower, and there’s warm water at the dishwashing area too. We’ll come back next time we’re in that part of the Lakes!

A lovely atmosphere, with good pitches and facilities. The campsite is tucked away in a quieter part of the Lake District beside the river and pub. Great for walking or biking straight from the site.

There’s plenty of space on the pitches for vans and motorhomes, but ours was a tight fit for our caravan. I’d have preferred to park the car beside us for convenience. It’s a lovely little site right by the river, with the pub visible from the grounds, about two minutes away.
