The breakfast was tasty, with a good choice of locally sourced food. The owner and his son were friendly and helpful, letting us check in early and even helping us get back when the local taxi driver wouldn't answer his phone. We stayed overnight for a wedding nearby. Our en-suite room was a good size and looked out over the lawn. It was clean and tidy, though the decor felt a bit dated to me, and the shower pressure was on the weak side. The grounds are nice, and I'd recommend the hotel if you're staying in the area.

The room was spacious, well equipped and delightful, and after riding my motorbike from London in the rain, that bath was much appreciated. Robert and Tim were lovely from the start and even offered to collect me from the wedding reception if I couldn't get a cab. The breakfast was awesome, and the country house decor suits the place. Bude is about 20 minutes up the road. I loved my stay and would definitely return if I was in Devon or Cornwall again.

We came back after a fortnight, and The Court Barn is now a firm favourite. Last time we ate elsewhere, so we made sure to try the food on this visit. It was as fantastic as the rest of the stay. The location is peaceful, with a short drive to the Atlantic coast and highway one way and the main A30 the other. The place is spotless, comfortable, and has large, well-equipped rooms. Robert and Tim, the father and son team, are what keep bringing people back. They make sure nothing is too much trouble, from complimentary tea and homemade cake on arrival to everything during the stay. There's lots to do in the grounds, including pitch and putt, croquet and plenty of games. If it rains, there's a well-stocked library and comfortable lounges. It's a great base for seeing Devon and Cornwall, and we can't recommend The Court Barn Country Hotel and restaurant highly enough.

A lovely little guest house and B&B run by a father and son. They're very friendly, the rooms are a good size, clean and tastefully decorated. The tea and cakes on arrival were a lovely touch, and breakfast was generous and freshly cooked. There's croquet, a small putting green in the garden, and board games in the downstairs day room. Tea, coffee and biscuits are provided in the rooms too. It seems better suited to couples or someone wanting a quiet break than families with children, though my 6yr old enjoyed it. We only stayed one night. Bude, with its beaches and nice family pubs, is nearby.

Our best stay during two weeks of road-tripping along England's south coast. The hosts and place were wonderful, and both breakfast and dinner were top class. Tim and Robert, thank you for your hospitality and for making our holiday even better.
