I really liked how carefully the vegan breakfast was put together, and it looked lovely. There were several vegan choices, no extra charge for milk alternatives, and the menu’s allergen labels made ordering easy and gave me confidence in the place. The staff were friendly and welcoming, with a wonderful atmosphere. Generous portions too, and I don’t think I’ve ever had such a huge pot of tea in a cafe for that price. Couldn’t recommend it more.

The room was Cabin 1, a double with a sea view, and I slept really well in the super-comfy bed. Towels, a hair dryer, hand wash and a great shower were all provided. There’s a TV with various channels, including Sky News, and you can log into Netflix. For a ferry stop, the place is easy to book, with self check-in and room only. Tea and coffee with a kettle are in the room, and the guest lounge has another kettle, a fridge and cutlery for fish and chips from just around the corner. Free parking is out front or around the corner. There are local bars nearby and supermarkets a short drive away. I brought a porridge pot for breakfast. Howard and Jason are easy to reach, and Joany is around to top things up if you stay longer than one night. Google says closed, but that’s for the attached cafe, not the rooms. It’s a great place to rest before the next leg of a ferry trip, and easy to overlook. I’ll be back x

Our French bulldog seemed happy and relaxed here too. The staff were lovely, really friendly and helpful, and the menu and food were both great. It’s worth a visit any time of day. The bistro has such a fun, eclectic look.

The food and coffee were good, though £7.50 for the breakfast in the photo felt a bit pricey, and that didn’t include coffee. The serving staff were friendly. What really bothered me was the owner taking my keys, apparently as a prank. When I asked about them, he gave them back and said he’d picked them up to keep them safe. Later, I heard he’d told my partner it was a joke and that he does it all the time. That’s really not acceptable.

The food was top quality, the service was superb and the atmosphere was excellent. A fabulous café. If you like a man with a big organ, you should visit. You’ll understand when you walk in 😄
