Our host was lovely. The lodge was beautiful, clean and felt like home, in a peaceful, scenic village that welcomes dogs.

We cooked our own food here for three days, and the property had everything we needed, including manuals for the kitchen appliances. It was just right for my husband and me, and Kate was a lovely host. We explored mam tour, padley george national trust and the nearby area. The location is brilliant, with Sheffield about 20 minutes away for shopping and food. The locals were lovely too. We had a brilliant time, thanks kate.

We liked the place so much we've already booked again. The hosts were friendly and chatty, and the facilities were all there. It's ideally placed for Peak District walks, whether you set off right from the Lodge or drive up to 30 minutes.

The lodge is on someone's farm, one of two, but has its own parking. It's a handy base for Chatsworth House, Bakewell, Sheffield and places across the High Peak. Underfloor heating warmed it up quickly and made it cosy, while the dishwasher and full-size oven were useful bonuses. There's an enclosed courtyard and a grassy area behind it for dogs. Pets cost £10 cash per stay, payable on arrival.

A lovely, well-decorated cottage on a farm at Froggatt, six miles from Bakewell. The amenities are great, and I’d recommend it to anyone, including people with disabilities.
