Losehill View

We booked a Discovery spa day and it was amazing from beginning to end. The staff were very friendly and helpful, and the cream tea we had was amazing too. A truly magical place. We'd highly recommend it to family and friends.

The lunch was a highlight: tasty and beautifully presented. The spa itself is lovely, but for £175, service and professionalism fell short, and it needed better organisation, guest focus and attention to detail. I used a gifted £175 Luxury Escape voucher for my recent visit to Losehill Spa. The website says spa use lasts three hours, but I was given only two, which felt misleading and was disappointing. I arrived early for a welcome drink before my treatment and was told by reception to wait in the lounge. Nobody spoke to me for around 10 minutes, then the coffee took another 10 minutes. I saw it go past me while a new young staff member was being told it had to be served in a full glass with a saucer and spoon, something guests shouldn't have to overhear. When it finally arrived, it was lukewarm. While waiting, I also noticed some staff seemed more interested in personal conversations than looking after guests. I overheard someone talking about their nan being poorly with Alzheimer’s and in hospital. That's not something guests should hear in an environment meant to feel calm and luxurious.

We booked an afternoon at the spa with massages, and the views from the outdoor hot tub and sauna were lovely. The sauna only fits about three people, though, and the pool was a bit chilly. There’s no steam room or sun loungers, just the pool and a very small sauna and hot tub. The area needs attention: the decking around the sauna and tub was green with mildew and smelled of drainage. The windows and patio doors were dirty, and the sauna door didn’t close flush, so it couldn’t get properly hot. The setting is gorgeous, and the staff, cream tea, restaurant and bar were all great. The spa itself was disappointing and could use a clean and more space.

The wedding setting was romantic, with a gorgeous view, and the food was delicious and to a high standard. We stayed for the weekend, and the rooms were immaculate with excellent facilities. I used a mobility scooter, and Millie and the rest of the hotel staff handled my needs with real patience and kindness. Every detail seemed carefully looked after. A superb place for a wedding.
