Gable End Guest House

Mary was the highlight of our stay at Gable End. She was warm, curious and generous, and the owners were fabulous. The guest house was cozy and CLEAN, with immaculate rooms and quaint decor, as you can see in the photos and video. My only issue was that my bed was too hard. There was a softer one in the room, but I didn’t swap. Breakfast was freshly made and filling, and transport to and from the b&b went smoothly. It’s conveniently located near LGW airport. I’d definitely stay again.

Joseph & Mary have made us feel at home every time we’ve used Gable End Guest House. This was our third visit, after two overnight layovers at Gatwick and a 3 day family trip to explore London. Their hospitality and helpfulness go beyond what you’d expect. Once you exit at Gatwick, it’s a short walk to a phone; call and Joseph will be there minutes later to take you to the guest house, about a 5 minute drive away. It’s a 15 minute walk to Horley train station, where the 40 minute train to Victoria Station takes you into the heart of London. There’s also a magnificent 500 year old pub down the street, where the food and prices beat eating in overpriced London. It’s a great, budget-friendly base for London, with the feel of a small English town and lovely walking trails nearby. Rooms are clean and comfortable, a full breakfast is waiting in the morning, and transport to and from Gatwick is included. Joseph & Mary make this place a treasured find.

The owners are very friendly, and gave us a free ride to Gatwick Airport on our departure day. Breakfast was good and varied, and the room was well kept with a clean bathroom. The only complaint I have is about the beds’ quality. Even so, I’d still very much recommend this nice Guest House.

I loved my stay and only wish I’d had more than one night in Gatwick. The hosts were wonderfully welcoming, and breakfast was great. My room faced a noisy road, but ear plugs made it manageable. I liked the location too. They’ll pick you up from the airport, and it’s about a 10 minute walk to the train station. In the other direction, the Ye Olde Six Bells pub is a 5 minute walk away and has good food.
