Gatwick Belmont Hotel

There’s no air conditioning, which was tough in the very hot weather when we visited. You can ask for a fan, and it helped a bit. The rooms themselves were small but nice. The shuttle to and from Gatwick was great, at 6 pounds per room each way, so just 3 per person for the two of us. Continental breakfast was pretty good, though there were no boiled eggs. A full breakfast starts at 7:30 am, but we had to leave before then.

The bar and restaurant felt welcoming and comfortable, the food was great, and the staff were really friendly. The rooms were spotless and had everything I wanted, from a good choice of hot drinks to a refreshing hot shower, adjustable heating and windows that open. The place has plenty of character and is handy for Gatwick. They run their own shuttle there and back for much less than a taxi. With the low prices I wasn’t expecting such a good stay, but I was wrong. I’ll come again when I’m in the area.

For a quick stop before an early Gatwick flight, this worked really well. The staff were friendly and helpful, and the morning shuttle was efficient and cost six pounds. We skipped breakfast because of the early flight, but had a look in the restaurant and it seemed very nice. There were quite a few guest rules, such as no outside food, though none caused us a problem. Our basic room and en suite were very clean. The bathroom was tiny, but everything worked.

The room was super tiny, but modern and clean, and guest services were really nice. I liked the continental breakfast too. Gatwick town is a short walk away with a few nice restaurants. There’s also a big thrift shop nearby if you need a jacket, clothes, or a new luggage case.
