We had a lovely stay last weekend and are definitely planning to come back. The setting is wonderfully peaceful at the top of a hill, with outstanding views, and there are only two rooms, which suits us. Jayne is so welcoming, and Ruby the Springer Spaniel and the Tabby cat, whose name we never learned, add to that welcome. Breakfast, which is what Jayne serves, was delicious. The Rose and Crown is a short walk away and a great spot for an evening bite. If you want a quiet day or two in a beautiful part of the country, I’d highly recommend this B&B.

We spent two very pleasant, peaceful nights at Ackroyd House. The beds were very comfortable, and the large rooms have attractive picture windows. Breakfast was delicious, there was plenty of parking, and the owner was exceptionally friendly and helpful. It’s in a lovely countryside setting and a very good location.

We’ve just come back from two nights at Ackroyd House. The views from the house are stunning, and the owner is a wonderful host who made us feel very welcome. Breakfast was delicious too. There’s a good pub, the Rose and Crown, a short walk away. We ate there both nights and found the food good and reasonably priced.

Jayne is lovely and knows how to be available when you need her without hovering. She even researched how to make breakfast vegan and adjusted it to suit. Brilliant. The B&B was perfect for my weekend visit: clean, extremely spacious and equipped with everything I needed.

The location is stunning, and Jayne was a fantastic host. My wife and I stayed at Ackroyd House for a short break in mid-October 2020. Our room was clean, warm and welcoming, and the pandemic precautions were all in place, so we felt safe. Breakfast was amazing. There were plenty of good restaurants open and operating as usual in Holmfirth at the time, and the beautiful Peak District trails are a short drive away. We’re already planning to return and can’t compliment Jayne enough. A great staycation is possible, even during a pandemic.
