Be careful with the deposit. It isn’t registered with DPS or TDS, so it isn’t protected. The landlord could keep it and not return it at the end.

It sounded and looked good until we got to the £200 deposit, which was refundable if there was no damage. As pensioners, we don’t have £200 spare, so we couldn’t go and ended up staying home.

We’d had the reservation for a year, but they decided they were closed on the very night we were due to stay. There was a huge gig on that night, probably one of the biggest events Huddersfield has seen, and now we’re left with nowhere to stay.

There are quite a few things that need fixing. The fire door by the bottom of the stairs near the exit doesn’t shut properly, and the living room wall plug is coming away. In the bedroom, the bed slats are broken, so we had to put the mattresses on the floor, and the wardrobe backs are broken too. None of the bathrooms had ladies’ bins. The carpet grips under the doors also have screws that haven’t been put in properly.
