It’s a great spot, about a 15-minute drive from Huddersfield, and the couple who own it are lovely. The cottage was very clean and worked well for our one-night stay. The decor felt very old-fashioned to me, though. I’d suggest plug-in air fresheners and updating the pictures and ornaments.

The cottage is peaceful and quiet, which was a plus. Getting there was awkward, though, with a narrow access lane. Heating comes from an open fire with a back boiler, and the style and amenities feel very old-fashioned.

A small cottage, but laid out well and with good-sized rooms. It’s an old farm cottage, just as I expected, and suited us well for a short stay.

We’d stay again. Our foster child loved the horse, and I loved the dog, Max. The kind welcome pack with milk, eggs, rolls and a selection of jams was wonderful.
