This used to be a good place to have a pint, but it's suddenly become Hull's most expensive pub. They charged me over £5 for a pint of Worthinhton's, more than you pay for real ale elsewhere locally. That was my last visit, and we won't be back. Shame on the owner!

I first drank here back in the 1970s, when it was a former bass house on the corner of Manor Street. The old two-room pub has since been opened up into one larger space. It still draws a crowd and has a friendly feel, with staff who are nice. There’s a broad choice of beers and ciders, though sadly no cask-conditioned real ale. No pool table either, but there’s a TV showing sport.

It can get really packed, but that just makes the atmosphere better. Always a great place.

It's a cramped little pub, but the atmosphere is good. It’s busy all the time, so getting served can be tricky, and some of the bar staff seem more interested in chatting, pouting, and checking their phones than noticing customers. The music’s so loud you can’t talk to your friends, and there are sleazy older men and dirty toilets. Still, if you’re drunk, it’s an “okay” place to stop off, which is why I’ve given it three stars.

The beer and spirits are reasonably priced, and the staff were cheerful and friendly to everyone. The pub had a great feel when we went in on the 27th, even though it was absolutely packed. The only downside was the climb upstairs to the restroom. I really love the place and would recommend it for a good atmosphere and a fun time.
