The room was clean, and the staff were amazing, so the two stars are for them. They couldn’t help that nobody seemed to know what was going on at check-in, or that they hadn’t realised the previous guests had checked out. There was no key for the side door, even though I had to pay a £10 deposit for one, and nobody had told me about that in advance. The photos online are catfish photos. This is a room above a dingy pub with threadbare carpets throughout, no TV, a bare bathroom, and a tatty little fridge. The cups didn’t match, which wouldn’t bother me if one hadn’t said “world’s greatest grandad.” It felt more like a halfway house inside. With new carpets, a lick of paint, and a TV in each room, it could be so much better.

Wow, do they take long-term bookings? I’m thinking at least 2 to 4 years while I adjust to life on the outside. If I’m feeling lonely and nostalgic, this could be just the place I need. That room looks kind of familiar. I wouldn’t mind the employee letting himself into my room, but maybe that’s just me. Come on in, sit on the end of the bed, bud, and tell me all about you!

The sheets were dirty, and the mattress was stiff at one end and soft at the other. I also found rubbish in the cupboards, the shower was cold, and there was little chance of sleep before 23:00. The fire alarm didn’t seem to exist. Leaving was the fun part. Nobody mentioned a forced 10:00 checkout, and no one was around to let me out. You have to enter through the pub. If escaping by the fire door and climbing a 10ft spiked fence sounds appealing, this place is for you. Staying in Hull? Don’t go cheap :)

The customer service was really poor, and when I asked about the cannabis smell, I was spat in the face. All the facilities were disgusting, and the place stank of cannabis. Trading standards and environmental health have been informed. Worst stay in Hull. Absolutely disgusting. Be aware of this place, it’s not worth what I paid!

I’d leave this place as a last resort. The room was terrible, and the mattress felt like it had come off the street. I could feel every spring, and sleeping on it was pretty painful. The en suite needs attention too. There was no shower curtain, so the floor would’ve been soaked if I’d showered. Luckily, it had a mixer tap and a bath. I only got one towel, so climbing out wet onto the tiled floor was pretty treacherous. One night I was watching TV when I heard a click at the door. All the doors are coded. I turned around and an employee had opened mine to come in. He quickly apologised when he saw me and said their board showed the room as unoccupied. I also had to pay a £10 deposit for a key so I could leave before 9am for work. The key didn’t even work. Luckily I checked the night before, or I’d have been late, as nobody was on site to let me out. This is just my opinion, of course; others might feel differently.
