The Whittington & Cat

The roadworks nearby made for an extremely noisy stay. A night crew worked through the night, and on both mornings the loudest construction started again at 7am. I know the hotel couldn't control the works, but I really think guests should have been warned or the room discounted. I mentioned it to a staff member at checkout because the owner wasn't there. The location is ideal for walking to both the city centre and fruit market. The room was nice, with lots of windows and light, and a comfortable bed. The bathroom could use some TLC.

A wonderful group of Brisbane Bronco fans and I had a lovely three days in Hull, result aside! We all enjoyed Jill and her pub near the Holiday Inn hotel. Good beer, lovely food, and some very happy times. Thanks, Jill!

The room was the real highlight, styled like a chic hotel with high ceilings, ornate deep coving, and deep red curtains and bed covers. The bathroom was modern, newly tiled, and spotless. We spent one night here, and the landlady and staff were pleasant and helpful. It's an old pub with the feel of a proper local, a good choice of beers, and home-cooked food. I had the chicken and veg pie, my partner had lasagne, and the portions were generous. Whittington and Cat is also ideally placed for Hull, just a few minutes on foot from the city centre, shops, museums, marina, old town with its cobbled streets, weekend nightlife and music bars. The railway station and Conexin arena are close too. There's loads to see and do. We highly recommend staying here.

The steak pie from the menu is to die for, and the staff are brilliant. Our room was lovely and peaceful even with the busy road nearby. The roadworks right outside are the one drawback, though they're due to finish in the next few months.
