The room was comfortable and the atmosphere was really friendly. Staff were very helpful, and we had a nice stay. We ate at the pub each night and enjoyed the food. A little more choice on the menu might have made it even better.

There were seven of us, with three dogs, and the roomy pub had plenty of space for us. The staff were friendly, the food was decent for the price, and we all enjoyed our meals over two or three courses. One person ordered a vegetarian pie, but it came with a different filling from the one she’d expected. Luckily she liked it. If I’d known what the filling was when we ordered, I’d have chosen the pie too.

We had a lovely meal at the Chequers Inn. The pies and sausage and mash were great, and the service was excellent. Prices were fair too. It gets busy, so I’d recommend booking. They also have covered tables outside that can be reserved, which should be nice on a good day.

Our room was a good size, with a bath and a separate shower, and the bed and pillows were super comfortable. Everything was very clean. The breakfast selection was great, and being able to eat any time from 8.00am to 12.00 without booking a slot made for a relaxed start. They even brought fresh milk for the room. A lovely pub with rooms and helpful, friendly staff.

Alfie gave us and our dog such a lovely welcome when we popped in for lunch. It’s nice to be greeted so warmly in a pub. The drinks were lovely, and the vegetarian food was decent, which can be hard to find. Good value too, and we’ll certainly return.
