Oak-Island Hall

We found this cosy, tucked-away outhouse at the last minute for Secret Garden Party, and it had everything we needed. Tea, coffee, milk and orange juice were waiting for us, and the nearby pub and shops made the location really handy. Max was welcoming and even offered us a lift to the festival if taxis weren't available. My friend and I had a great weekend, especially for such a good price. I'd stay here again if I'm back in the area.

Parking is across the road, and the place is quiet despite being close to the pub. There's also a garden centre and Co-op a short walk away. The cottage is gorgeous and cosy, with everything you need, and Max was kind and helpful when our plans changed at the last minute. Really accommodating host. I'd definitely recommend staying here.

The garden views are lovely, and the cottages feel private even though the A1 is nearby. Each one has its own entrance and keys, with access through a private side door using a pin code. Inside, ours was spotless and had more than I expected, including a proper oven instead of only a microwave and single hob. The mattress was so comfortable that I asked Max what kind it was. My husband and I had come to the area because of family issues, and Max was incredibly friendly and accommodating. He did everything he could to help a difficult weekend go smoothly. We really hope to stay again next time we're in the area. Thanks, Max! =)

The bed was so comfortable, and the fresh-smelling sheets made for a great night's sleep. The little apartment was clean, nicely decorated and had its own patio looking onto Max's huge garden. He let us wander around before we left, and showed us the luxury treehouse he's building for guests, well away from the room currently being booked, so there's privacy. My girlfriend and I came from Liverpool for work and were really glad we booked this place. Max made us feel welcome and shared his lovely land with us. Brilliant stay and service, we'd absolutely come back!
