The Elm Pub in Abbots Ripton has become a favourite of ours for food and drinks. We keep coming back because the food is reliably good, the service is attentive, and the atmosphere is relaxed and welcoming. It feels like a place to return to, not just try once. Whether we stop in for a drink or stay for a meal, the setting is comfortable and well considered. Dishes are thoughtfully made with fresh ingredients, and the portions are generous without losing care in the presentation. You can tell the kitchen takes pride in its work. The staff are friendly and professional, and keep an eye on things without hovering. Even when it’s busy, orders are handled efficiently and the experience feels calm and well managed. That stands out when service elsewhere seems to be slipping. With service quality at The Bridge in Huntingdon having declined recently, The Elm Pub could become a leading spot in the area. If things carry on this way, I wouldn’t be surprised if it became the top place to visit in Huntingdon and the surrounding villages. We’re increasingly glad to recommend The Elm Pub and come back for its reliable food, service and warm atmosphere.

I can’t say anything about the rooms since we only ate at the restaurant. The service and ambience were lovely, and the food met our expectations. We had chicken liver parfait, sea bass and steak. The parfait came in a generous portion, with a lovely flavour and a sweet chutney that paired well. I could have done with more bread.

The five of us had lunch here on Sunday, and we all thought it was the best meal we’d eaten out all year, despite going out a lot. They handled our morning request for no garlic perfectly, and the staff were really friendly and helpful. We’ve already booked for Christmas Eve. We can’t recommend The Elm enough, do give it a go.

It’s become my new favourite spot around Huntingdon for food and drinks. I first came for a birthday lunch in February, was so impressed that I returned for a Valentine’s Day date, and now visit regularly. The one drawback is that on busy or sunny days there can be a bit of a wait at the bar. They might need more people on hand when the sun’s out.

I have MS, and I walk very, very slowly, if I can walk at all. My mobility scooter is a Di Blasi R30, which folds down very small. In use, it’s no wider than an electric wheelchair and perhaps a little longer. I’d normally transfer off it and sit on a proper chair. For our meal, I found it a little more expensive than I’d usually pay, but it was worth it, and with drinks the bill was still below what I’d budgeted. The staff were attentive in an appropriate way, and deserved the tip I left. The disabled toilet was clean and spacious. It’s also used as a baby changing room, but that didn’t cause a problem for me.
