We were staying with family over Boxing Day and had booked a table hoping for a good lunch. After quite a bit of back and forth with menu questions, the booking was never confirmed. We decided to go anyway, but at 1pm were given a brunch menu with very limited options. Several of us ordered sausage or bacon sandwiches, and they were poor: the bread was worse than Tesco Value, with no garnish. Shocking. The chips were the best part. Those who had a full English said it tasted good, but was cold. I gave the manager polite feedback, and he wasn’t interested. A poor showing all round from what could be a really good local pub.

Stopped by on a recent Saturday evening when it was busy, as expected. I ordered a bottle of merlot and three glasses at the bar, but was given only two and told there weren’t any more. For the price of the bottle, they’d do well to buy more glasses or keep up with washing the used ones. That’s all.

We both got pudding, and my friend added a side, but the bill came to £39. The food was really nice and the prices seemed fair. It was my first visit with a friend, and I’d definitely recommend it.

The burger deal was what brought our group of seven in, and six of us got a burger and a pint for £10 each. The seventh tried the "Burger of the week". We all added sides, and the dirty fries are well worth trying. The food arrived soon after we ordered, and we were impressed with it, even though a couple of big groups had already made the place busy. The staff handled the crowd well. A few of us still had room for dessert; the sticky toffee pudding and hot chocolate pudding both looked amazing. There’s always a good choice of beers, and now we’re keen to return and try the other burgers. Nice one, team, we really enjoyed the visit.

There was no salmon in the salmon pasta, the sausage meat was very poor, and the mash had raw garlic in it. We waited more than an hour for the mains. I wouldn’t recommend it or go back.
