What a great B&B. The hosts, food, location and parking were all among the best we’ve had, possibly the very best. We’d give it a 10 out of 10. I also loved the village’s history, which you can still see in the sheep, the by-laws and the beck or stream. It used to have a practical purpose, and thankfully is now just a photogenic feature. There are lovely walks right from the doorstep that lead out onto the scenic moorlands.

Before exploring Hutton Le Hole, we stopped at The Barn for breakfast with our dog. It’s a lovely little cafe, and dogs are genuinely welcome inside or out. We sat inside. We both had a tasty full English and lattes, all good value. There’s also a small area selling locally made things, which was nice to see, especially with the cafe supporting other businesses. We often find places where dogs are merely tolerated, but everyone here, from our waitress to the owner, made us feel welcome. There’s a separate seating area if you’d rather sit away from dogs. I’d happily recommend it to anyone.

My work colleague had stayed here several times and recommended it, and I’m glad I took their advice. The Barn is lovely, in a pretty village with beautiful surroundings. Caroline and Gareth were warm and friendly hosts who couldn’t do enough for us. My single room was lovely, with a super comfortable bed and all the amenities I needed. The ensuite bathroom was spacious, with both a bath and shower. The only drawback was that the walls seemed a little thin, and my neighbours were a bit noisier than others. Breakfast, cooked by Gareth, was super delicious and had plenty of choice. I’m already planning another visit and would recommend the place to anyone I know. Thanks, Caroline and Gareth, for a lovely stay.

The food was a highlight, especially the cakes. I had the best gluten-free lemon drizzle I’ve ever tried, and they took such good care of me as someone with Coeliac disease. I really appreciated the effort to make sure I could eat everything, right down to the gluten-free cereal and toast. Breakfast was delicious too. Our family room was bright and very clean, with comfy beds, and our two-year-old twin girls loved having their own room. Hutton-le-Hole is a beautiful little village, like something from a postcard. We had a wonderful long weekend there, staying Friday to Monday. Caroline, Gareth and David at The Barn were perfect hosts, friendly and always ready with help or advice. We had some great days out, including the museum next door and a trip to Whitby, just over 30 minutes away. The girls were sad to leave. We hope to come again, and will try to remember to take photos of the food before tucking in!

We only had one night here, sadly, but everything was just right. Caroline welcomed us warmly, after a friendly greeting from Kallie and Skye 🐾🐾. The room was comfortable and well equipped, and there’s a sitting room downstairs where you can have tea and biscuits, read or watch TV. Breakfast was plentiful, freshly prepared and made just how we asked. I’d have no hesitation recommending this lovely Guest House, and hope we can return for longer. ☺️
