Epchris House

Cath made us feel at home as soon as we arrived, and the staff were excellent too. Breakfast came with a smile, and anything we needed topped up was always left for us. We felt thoroughly spoiled and didn't want to go home. The breakfast itself was incredible: we filled in a form with our choices and time slot, then it was brought to our room, or we could eat on the patio. There was cereal, pastries, waffles, a full English, and an amazing range of vegan options that impressed my vegan partner. Our top-floor room was spotless, with a comfortable bed, large bathroom and shower, sofa, fridge, and TV. The sea on the horizon made a lovely view to wake up to. The house and grounds are beautiful, with a large, well-kept garden, patio seating, and plenty of parking. Inside, there's a games room and bar with pool, table tennis, and an Xbox, plus an honesty bar where you note what you've used for the bill. Freshly baked cake was available every day. Epchris House is about a 10-minute walk from Ilfracombe Harbour and shops. We loved the town, with its independent shops and plenty to see. We visited the aquarium, took a boat trip, and did lots of walking. Lynton and Lynmouth are also close by and are our favourite place, absolutely beautiful. There was plenty to do, though Ilfracombe would also be lovely for a quiet break. We stayed four nights and have already decided to return. This was the best place either of us has ever stayed, and we've been to quite a few. My partner's review hasn't appeared on Booking.com, so I'm posting this for them. I can't recommend Epchris House enough. It was first class in every way, and Cath and her team should be proud. I just hope there's availability for our next visit.

Ilfracombe made a great base for our day trips west to Clovelly and Croyde, and east over Exmoor to Dunster, Lynton, and Lynmouth. We also enjoyed dinner and wandering around Ilfracombe, and would happily return to the area. The breakfasts served in our room were delicious, and the room itself was spacious and comfortable. Cath was always around with helpful tips and dinner suggestions, made us feel at home, and even provided the dairy alternatives we needed. The B&B was beautiful and well kept. There was a lounge and bar with an Xbox, table tennis, and pool, plus delicious cake baked daily. Thanks for letting us take a peek at the recipe!

Breakfast was phenomenal. A basket with our continental choices was left at the door first thing, then hot, freshly cooked food was brought right to the bedroom. We ate at the table with a lovely view, and even had breakfast in bed once after a long day of walking. Cath was a brilliant host and went above and beyond before, during, and after our stay. Nothing was too much trouble. We felt very lucky to spend the weekend at Epchris House. The house and grounds are beautiful and well located, our room was huge and airy, and the bathroom was bright. There was even a drink we'd requested waiting for us in the fridge through the honesty bar. Thank you so much for having us. We'll certainly return!

Our breakfast arrived at the time we chose, which felt like a real luxury. The weather was kind, so we ate on the sun terrace and enjoyed the views. The homemade cake in the lounge each afternoon, plus the pool and table tennis, were lovely extras. We spent two nights at Epchris house at the beginning of June to celebrate a special birthday and our 40th wedding anniversary. Cath was so welcoming and helpful, and even left us a bottle of fizz. Breakfast was excellent. We'd highly recommend staying here.
