Wildercombe House

The only real downside is the location. It’s on a steep hill and a fair walk from the centre of Ilfracombe, though there’s a nearby bus stop if the walk is too much. That’s not the B&B’s fault, and I can’t recommend it enough for a visit to Ilfracombe. The owners and staff gave exceptional service and really tried to help with any request. We asked about playing cards; at first they said they didn’t have any, but the owner found a set and brought them to our room. The breakfast waiters were kind and attentive, and there was a good range of high-quality food. Our room was beautifully appointed, clean and comfortable, with comfortable beds and all the amenities we needed.

Anne-Marie made us feel welcome and told us about the area and nearby places to visit. Our room was larger than average and had gorgeous views. The accommodation was clean throughout, there was plenty of on-site parking, and breakfast was delicious. I’d thoroughly recommend staying here when visiting Ilfracombe.

Anne and Barry, the owners, are lovely, and so is the rest of the staff. The hotel is beautifully decorated and exceptionally well kept, with lovely views. Online pictures don’t do it justice. After more than 30 years of travel, it’s one of the best hotels I’ve stayed in. The bed had wonderful crisp, clean sheets, just like I remember from the army, and the quilt and pillows were amazing. My room had a bath, which was great. I can’t say enough about how perfect this hotel was. I look forward to staying again next time I’m in the area.

I’ve never needed a hotel in Ilfracombe before, since my parents lived there for 30 years and I always stayed at the family home. That house has now been sold, my dad has gone into a home, and my mum passed away a long time ago. This hotel was fantastic, with top-notch décor and everything thought of, from a hairdryer and iron in the bedroom to a mini fridge and tea and coffee. The breakfasts were amazing, and the hosts were so lovely and friendly. I’ll definitely return. Thanks so much for having me :)
