The Anchor Hotel Bars

For the price, the night's stay felt fair. Parking was free because we were hotel guests, and the check-in lady was really nice. We were pleasantly surprised by how clean and spacious our room was. We had dinner that evening, nothing special but good value. Breakfast the next morning wasn't good, though, and the bar lady was quite blunt. There were no changes allowed.

From the comments, I'm clearly not the only one who's found the staff dull and rude. This was one of the worst customer service experiences I've had. If you don't like the job, don't do it, it's that simple. We won't be returning, and since our family has a caravan there, we'll encourage other visitors not to bother either. Ridiculous!

The staff are really friendly, and the rooms in the superior block are lovely, new and clean. I can't fault them. At £99 a night, though, I think it's a little expensive when breakfast isn't included. That's just my opinion, so don't let it put you off trying the hotel 😃

The karaoke host was really friendly when I popped into the pub on holiday to see what entertainment was on. I bought a drink at the bar, then sat down to watch. The bar staff member who served me was blunt, with no hospitality or customer service skills whatsoever, and looked like she'd been working there since the 1940's. She seemed like she didn't want to be there. Later I needed the toilet and didn't know you needed a code, so I asked her for it. She said you had to buy something and the code was on the receipt. I said I'd just bought a drink, but she wasn't going to get the code for me. Another young barmaid went over and got it, so I thanked her. It may be time to find more welcoming staff, especially in a hospitality business. People holidaying there deserve some respect and customer service, and a smile wouldn't go amiss. If the public didn't spend money on holiday, they might not have a job. Very disappointed, as it used to be a nice, friendly family place.
