The George Hotel

The George is a beautiful, cosy pub in an unbeatable location. We brought both our families for a big dinner after running off into the hills to elope, and everything felt just right. The food and cocktails were amazing, and the staff were kind and attentive, adding little touches that made the evening feel special. Both families who stayed had faultless visits, and they especially loved the Bloody Marys at breakfast. We’ll definitely be back. It’s a special place.

We shared a delicious seafood platter after starting with prawn cocktail and venison meatballs. The food was lovely, and even though we were too full for dessert, Lucy and Rafael surprised us with two pieces of fudge on a little plate, with ‘Happy Birthday’ written in white chocolate. My husband had booked dinner at The George for my 30th, and Lucy had already made the evening feel special by bringing a complimentary glass of Prosecco after we sat down. The staff made us feel so welcome throughout our stay, and dinner in the restaurant was fantastic as usual. The puddings were especially good, and the chocolate mousse is well worth trying. We stayed in one of the incredible suites, with a log fire in the room and candles for a candlelit bath. Such a lovely treat. The new owners have done a brilliant job bringing The George back to its best. We can’t wait to return. Thanks to everyone for a wonderful stay ❤️

The food was delicious throughout our stay, and the seafood was the freshest we’ve ever had the pleasure of enjoying. We’ve already booked our anniversary here so we can spend more time at this amazing hotel and take in its perfect setting. We stayed on either side of the wedding, and our guests and we were impressed by the hotel’s unique character and the incredible service from everyone. Sam, Gillian and Megan helped the wedding day run smoothly and were on hand whenever needed. The dinner and bar teams worked so hard to make it a fantastic night. Endless thanks to every member of the team for making our stay and wedding day as perfect as we’d hoped.
