I booked the room by mistake, then noticed an hour or two later and called to cancel. They said a refund was fine and told me to contact my agency to arrange it, which I did. After check-in time had passed, the hotel got in touch and said their policy meant they had to charge me. Do yourself a favor and stay at a real hotel.

The room was clean and comfortable, with a lovely firm mattress, and I liked the decor and location. Staff were friendly enough, but the self check-in made things feel a little cold. I only saw Willie at breakfast: he served it, then left and didn't come back, and there was nobody to speak to when checking out either. The cooked breakfast was good, though the rest of the buffet was basic, with cheap cereal and tinned fruit. For the price, I expected a bit more.

The bathroom was the letdown: it was very small, with the tiniest sink we'd ever seen, so water ended up all over the floor. The room itself was okay, and the view of the castle and river Ness was stunning. We stayed for two nights at the end of September 2025. There was a faux fireplace by the front door, which was a nice touch, and Willie greeted us at check-in. Breakfast could be ordered the day before, with choices including a full Scottish breakfast with Haggis and beans, or smoked Haddock with scrambled eggs. A machine made espresso, cappuccino, and coffee. We missed having fresh fruit, as the canned fruit on offer wasn't appealing. The city center is a 5 to 10 minute walk away, and pubs and restaurants are about five minutes away. Willie was very friendly and helpful.

The shower was the one problem: the hotter we made the water, the weaker the pressure got, until it was just dripping. Otherwise, everything was fine. The woman at reception was very helpful, and we enjoyed the traditional Scottish breakfast. I'd stay again.
