The snooker table and darts kept everyone entertained, and having a proper bar meant we could enjoy our own little lock-in. There are several beaches close enough for day trips too. We had a really amazing stay with family and friends, with great rooms and facilities.

You get plenty of lovely social space, a bar, and high-quality bedrooms, each with a TV and a very modern bathroom. It's a lovely old pub to rent for a week with a large party, and the facilities are fantastic. Just be ready for the rural roads.

We were put off before we even got inside. A sign on the gated car park across the road said, "we do not cater for walk ins," which felt like a deeply unfriendly way to run a pub. We turned around and left, and won't be back. If our money isn't welcome, we'll spend it elsewhere. My wife and I are trying to visit as many local pubs as we can on weekends, and Church House at Torbryan was on today's list. It's right out in the sticks, so we'd gone out of our way to get there. This would have been our 546th new pub, and I've never seen a place so unwelcoming. We went down the road to the Coppa Dolla instead, where the atmosphere was much, much friendlier. With it just round the corner, there's no need to visit Church House at Torbryan.

The staff were helpful, polite, and genuinely interested in making sure we enjoyed our stay. They also knew a lot about the building's long, fascinating history and the surrounding area. The owner was on hand, and we could either chat with the Locals in the Bar or settle into the quieter Lounge by one of the toastie warm traditional fires. It's a beautiful, relaxing place, with wonderful food and beautifully decorated rooms. Absolutely amazing.

We celebrated a family 21st Birthday here with friends and family, and had a Murder Mystery Night and a drawing of the Inn. Such an amazing place for a celebration. It's old and quirky, with everything you need for a great time: draft beer, a pool table, darts, and a huge kitchen. Just fantastic, would highly recommend.
