Best Western The Gatehouse Hotel

The bedroom and dining room are simply decorated, but everything was clean. I was only booked in a few hours before arriving for work, and since I work nights, I come back in the morning for breakfast and bed. The staff have been welcoming and considerate of my unusual hours. Breakfast is basic, but carefully cooked, with a continental option too. I didn't get to try the bar or walk around the grounds this time, perhaps another visit.

The dinner was gorgeous. There were four of us, and somehow every main course and dessert came out just right. Breakfast was nearly perfect as well. The staff, especially one lovely lady, Marrissa??, made the whole stay such a pleasant experience. The rooms are very clean and clearly cared for, though they could use an update. I'd happily come back, even just for that food.

The freshly cooked breakfast was fantastic, one of the best I've had. I spent a night here while exploring part of Suffolk, and the hotel itself is attractive, with friendly, efficient staff. My room had some character without going overboard. The shower pressure was weak and, at least in my room, there was no air conditioning. Small drawbacks, and I'd stay again without hesitation.

The good breakfast lets you order individual items instead of taking a full set meal, and the service was friendly. Still, I wouldn't stay again. The rooms felt dated and dirty, and the bathroom bin was already full of used female sanitary wipes when I arrived. I'd paid for a double but was first given a tiny room with a single bed. Staff apologized and moved me straight away. The hotel is basic, though quietly and conveniently located.
